Warrior Princess Sloan was named for the Old Irish clan name meaning "little raider". Flown up from San Rafael during the COVID-19 pandemic, she was co-raised by long-time guide dog puppy raisers, Kathi & Carolyn. Career changed for fear and distraction issues and adopted by Carolyn's daughter.
Isabella, full of sugar and spice, joined our group during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. What better way to shelter in place than with a new puppy? She joined Heidi & Dallas as their 16th puppy for Guide Dogs, but it was soon determined that she had a malformed kidney and a major infection in her ureter. She had surgery at 12 weeks of age, was nursed back to health, and was adopted by dear friends of her raisers.
Barclay arrived on the May 2019 Puppy Truck to be raised by first-time raisers Becci & Nick. He was career changed for medical reasons in April 2020 and was adopted by the parents of long-time puppy raiser Melissa.
Albus, of Harry Potter fame, was co-raised by Heidi & Dallas & by Brian & Annalise. This darling boy was career changed at the age of 10 months for obsessive behaviors. Behaviors that don't necessarily make a good guide dog are essential for other careers, so Albus headed to the San Rafael campus to be evaluated for Search & Rescue.
Mr. Ed is the only pup of Mrs. Beasley, who was raised by Katherine & Rick, so he is a grandpuppy of sorts! Beasley also fostered 2 pups from Reese's litter so Ed wouldn't be lonely and Beasley would have a good first-time mother experience. Ed is full of personality! Transferred to Enumclaw Puppy Raisers at 12 months of age to complete his training. Career changed in February 2020 and adopted by long-time group members Cliff & Laura, who are thrilled to have him join their family!
Acer joined our group as a transfer from Redmond Puppy Raisers at the ripe old age of 22 months, to spend his last several months before formal training with Brenda and Frank. Career changed at 24 months old for alert and startle barking and placed with family of his first raiser.
Lambda is a super fluffy Golden/Lab Cross who is actually 90.6% Golden. The little bit of Yellow Labrador comes mostly from her ancestor, Sunset, who was also raised in our group. This Lambda was co-raised by Kathi and by Carolyn & Brett, who recently transferred to our group after many years of raising pups with Bellevue Puppy Raisers. Lambda was career changed for cataracts and adopted by her raiser.
Jaleel's raiser Doug moved from San Francisco area to join our group in the Summer of 2019. Jaleel was dropped for cataracts in Dec 2020 at 24 months of age and adopted by his raiser.
Alameda, or Ali, transferred to Seattle from the Enumclaw group in January 2020 at the age of 14 months to continue her training with raisers Calley & Nick. Such a sweet, soft girl, that little Ali! She was career changed Dec 2020 for being nervous in cars and was evaluated as a Canine Buddy to be placed with a child who is visually impaired.
Miss Gobi was started by Sequim puppy raisers and transferred to Seattle Puppy Raisers at the age of 16 weeks to be raised by first time raiser Chloe. Gobi Girl went to work at Amazon with Chloe. Recalled for formal training in January 2020. Sheltered In Place for 6 months due to Covid, then returning to training and subsequently career changed for barking in Oct 2020. Gobi was adopted by a loving family.
Panache, a name synonymous with confidence, self-assurance, style, & flair, fits this little Guide-Dog-to-be perfectly. She was raised by Robin & Howard as their 15th puppy for Guide Dogs for the Blind. In Nov 2019 she went to campus for Breeder Evaluation, then formal harness training. Panache was one of the Shelter-In-Place dogs that was evacuated from campus during the Covid pandemic. She was dropped for fear of traffic after she returned to campus a second time. She was placed as a loving pet by GDB.
Galley-Girl arrived at the Microsoft Campus when they sponsored the puppy truck in October 2018. Experienced raisers Kim & Gary both work at Microsoft and Galley attended work there often. Career changed for fear of buses and trucks in December 2019 and adopted by her raisers.
This little Noodle arrived just after Christmas 2018 as a 5 month old transfer from the Portland area. Pasta is mostly Golden Retriever, with a splash of Lab. He was raised by Calley as her first Guide Dog pup and went to work with her at Amazon. Returned for formal training Nov 2019 and dropped for excitable greeting behavior in March 2020 and was picked up by Freedom Service Dogs and is now a therapy dog working with a social worker on a college campus in Denver to assist students with disabilities.
A fluffy Golden pup for Melissa & Jeremy to raise arrived via puppy truck in June 2018. Kingsley! This is Melissa's 9th pup for GDB. This regal guy returned for formal harness training August 2019. Dropped for dog distraction in November 2019 and is now a PTSD dog with Next Step Service Dogs.
Funston, named after a park in California (and probably a Mr or Ms Funston), was raised by experienced puppy sitter Hope as her first full-time pup for GDB. Returned for formal harness training November 2019 and dropped for excitable greeting behavior in March 2020.
Hercules is one of the best known heroes in Greek and Roman mythology. He arrived via the November 2017 Puppy Truck delivery and was raised by first time raisers Denise & Sean until he transferred to the Sequim Puppy Pilots group at 8 months of age. Career changed at 14 months old for dog distraction, vocalizing, and fears and adopted by his first raisers, Sean & Denise, who are thrilled to add him to their family.
In ancient mythology, Calista was a nymph loved by Zeus, whose jealous wife Hera turned her into a bear. This little bear joined our group in Nov 2017 and was raised by Mary Lou for the first 3 months, experienced puppy sitter turned raiser.Transferred to the Portland area in January 2017 at 5 mo. of age. Career changed in Dec. 2018 for fearful behavior around traffic and adopted by a friend of her Portland raiser.
Wikipedia explains that a widget enables a user to perform a function or access a service--sounds like a guide dog to us! Widget was raised by Derval, Tom, Hugh, Jack, Alibhe, Fiona as their 3rd pup for GDB. He arrived via the Tacoma Subaru puppy truck delivery in Oct. 2017. Transferred to the Snohomish Puppy Guides group in May 2018 at 9 months of age and quickly career changed. She will make a wonderful pet for some lucky family and will be placed by GDB.
Reggie spent the first few weeks with raiser Abby and then transferred to Ursula & Laurie as the second pup for Guide Dogs for the Blind. He transferred again in January 2018 at 5 months of age to Colorado when his raisers adopted their previous pup, Wombie. Reggie was career changed for barking and rambunctiousness in Oct 2018. He was placed as a happy-go-lucky pet by GDB with a family on Vashon Island.
Ricki arrived as a transfer pup from the Bellingham area at the age of 12 months to be finished by experienced raisers Samantha & Karen. Sweet Ricki hopped on the January 2019 Puppy Truck and went to college. Career changed for inappropriately vocalizing at other dogs while in harness and placed as a pet by GDB.
Happy-go-lucky Spencer arrived in August 2017 and was raised by Samantha and her mom Karen as their 4th pup for GDB. Spencer went off for formal Guide Dog harness training in Oct 2018 and was dropped in Phase 7 for being unable to stop talking to his doggie friends. He will be placed by GDB as a wonderful pet.
Lima (Peru, not bean!) joined our group to be raised by Anna and family as their 5th puppy for Guide Dogs for the Blind. She arrived in August 2017. Lima was transferred to a raiser in the Enumclaw group for the last couple of months and went off to Guide Dog college in Oct 2018. She was career changed for body sensitivity and adopted by the previous leader of Enumclaw Puppy Raisers.
Petit Verdot is said to have lots of character! This Verdot arrived in May 2017 and will be raised by Jeremy and Melissa as their first pup with our group. Melissa raised 7 puppies for GDB with FHA when she was a teenager, so they are not lacking in experience! Verdot returned for formal training in June 2018. He made it all of the way through formal harness training before being dropped for happily vocalizing at passing dogs while he was working. He has been adopted and will serve as a Therapy Dog in a Seattle area school.
Kata joined our group at 11 months old as a transfer from the Portland area to be raised by experienced transfer pros Brenda and Frank. She began formal guide dog training in May 2018, but was dropped for relieving on walks and being extra scent-distracted. She was placed as a sweetheart of a pet by the GDB Dog Placement Dept.
6 month old Kappa joined our group for a short time as a transfer puppy from Kitsap Navigators, to be raised by Brenda & Frank. She wasn't quite ready for busy downtown Seattle, so she headed off in July 2017 to Vashon Island for the rest of her puppyhood.
Pearl, 3/4 Golden, 1/4 Labrador and fluffy as they come, joined our group to be raised by Anna, Sprague, Lucien, and Graham. Career changed at 5 1/2 months for fear and barking and placed as a pet by GDB.
Golden Mick was lucky #13 Guide Dog pup for Heidi & Dallas! He was transferred at 14 months of age to the WSU puppy raising group. He returned to the Oregon GDB campus on 3/30/18 to begin formal harness training at the age of 17 months. During his Vet exam on campus, it was discovered that Mick had cysts in the iris of his eye and he was career changed for health reasons. He has been adopted by a couple in Portland who have young grandchildren who visit often. Mick is going to go through further training to become a Therapy Dog at Good Samaritan's Rehabilitation Center.
Danika joined our group as a transfer from the Portland area. Brenda and Frank worked with her to help her overcome her dog distraction issues but she ended up being career changed in November 2016. The raisers placed her with family friends on Bainbridge Island and she now has 2 children and acreage to keep her busy!
Nasani, co-raised by Robin & Howard and Lisa & Doug, arrived in Sept. 2016. She is a sweet girl with an even temperament and her name means 'hard worker', perfect for a guide dog pup-in-training. She returned for formal training Sept 2017. After successfully completing formal guide dog training and while waiting for a match, Nasani experienced a couple of health issues and spent some time in foster care. She began balking and was career changed in June 2018. She has been adopted by the owners of Rooftop Brewery in Seattle and is a pub dog.
Goliath! This little guy with big paws and a giant heart arrived on Fun Day at the Oregon Campus. He was raised by Samantha as her 3rd puppy for Guide Dogs for the Blind. Returned for formal Guide Dog training August 2017, and dropped in December 2017 in advanced training for body sensitivity and playing keep away. He was adopted by family friends of the raisers.
Norby joined our group at the age of 4 months from the Kent/Auburn puppy raising group. He was raised by Mary, and her parents Todd & Jeannie. Norby started his formal harness training in June 2017 and was career changed in October for poor house behavior after completing his entire Guide Dog training. He has been adopted by his raising family and is a very happy pet!
Foxy little Fennec with the big ears is as smart as his namesake was raised by Abby and Arnold and went to work in a law firm. Fennec is 3/4 Golden, 1/4 Labrador. He started his formal guide dog training at the Boring, OR campus in May 2016. Career changed in Phase 4 for dog distraction and adopted by his raisers in June 2016.
Claudette was transferred to our group from Snohomish at 10 months of age to finish growing and learning. She joined Brenda and Frank to get experience with downtown Seattle and busier environs. Dropped from formal training for dog distraction in April 2017 and will be placed by Guide Dogs as a loving pet.

Better known as the Big Kahuna, this little guy was twice the size of his brother Kirk! He was raised by Thea, Eric, Zavdi, Chagall, and Zsa Zsa as thier first pup for GDB. Kahuna was ransferred to the Spokane puppy raising group in June 2016 and arrived on campus for formal training in Dec. 2016. Career changed for poor house manners in February 2017 and will be placed as a happy-go-lucky pet by GDB.
Jim was a transfer pup from the Kitsap group. He joined GPS at 8 months of age to be co-raised by T-Bone & Angie, and Ruth & Ron. Such a handsome boy! Career changed at 11 months for lack of interest in becoming a guide dog and adopted by Ruth & Ron.
Teeny tiny Desiree arived on the August 2015 puppy truck, just shy of 8 weeks old, to be raised by Anna, Lucien & Graham as their second pup for GDB. Entered formal training in Sept 2016. Career changed for dog distraction and 'scavenging' and adopted by friends of her raisers.
Gizmo was raised by Patty and Brian M. who joined GPS after a break from raising 4 pups with the Auburn and Tacoma groups. Giz was transferred to the Bellevue group for the last few months before he headed off to college. Recalled for formal training in Sept. 2016. Giz suffered a pulled muscle which reoccured durring training. He was career changed in February 2017 and adopted by his raising family.
With these good looks, he could be an Italian fashion model, but without the golden locks ;). Fabio arrived on the May Puppy Truck and was raised by Heidi & Dallas, and by Holly, Lee, Emmy, & Reese. He returned to the Oregon GDB campus in July 2016 for formal guide dog training. Half way through his training he experienced a soft tissue injury, which led to 3 months of rest, and resulted in him being overly body sensitive. Career changed and adopted by Holly, Lee, and the girls as a loving pet.
Beautiful Fiore, or 'flower' in Italian, was raised by Song Mei and family as their first puppy for Guide Dogs for the Blind until she was almost 6 months old. Siblings Fiore, Fennec, and Flare are Golden/Lab Double Crosses .Transferred to a different puppy group at 5 1/2 months of age. Career changed for fears.
This liberal guy was well socialized as a member of the Democratic Party with raiser Lisa, who has raised 3 previous pups for Guide Dogs for the Blind. Although he went off to college in December 2015, he was career changed for inappropriate relieving in Phase 8 and was adopted by his raisers, who were thrilled to add him to their family!
Winston was raised by family of 4 Sharon, Scott, Sophia, and Cosette as their first Guide Dog puppy, with help from family of 5 Mary, Marc, Brenna, Tatum, & Max. Mr. W. Wonka was raised by Jessica and was educated along with her kindergarten class. Oh, the kids loved Wonka! Jessica also got her doctorate in education while she raised Wonka--thanks to lots of help from some fantastic puppy sitters! Career changed in Phase 8 for dog distraction and will still attend school with Jessica as a Pet Partners Therapy Dog!
Bronco, a Lab-Golden Double Cross, was raised in a downtown condo with raisers Nathaniel and Rachel, commuted to work at Amazon. What could be more 'Seattle' than that? Career changed because he simply didn't want to be a guide dog :) and placed with raiser's brother in Pennsylvania.
Kanojo no na wa Tobiko! Her name is Tobiko...joined the O'Brien family to be raised as their 3rd puppy for Guide Dogs. Career changed July 2015 for liver disease in Phase 7 of Guide Dog college and adopted by her raisers. Tobiko will be on medication but is acting like her old self.

Mel arrived on a very rainy December day to be raised by Jan as her second GDB puppy. 'Mel' is a pure clarified form of honey. He battled Giardia as a puppy and at 11 mo. old was diagnosed with Parvo. He is now a beautiful, healthy adult. Career changed for 'wet mouth'. Mel was adopted by his raiser and registered asa TDI Therapy Dog.
Elmer joined our group from Sacramento when his family moved to Seattle in June 2011. We are thrilled to have them as part of our group! Elmer was career changed for fear and balking around buses and doorways and has been adopted by the raiser's brother in California.

Helene and her sister Hedda were chosen by GDB to be part of a study on minimizing body sensitivity. They wore hair scrunchies on bodies while playing--silly but effective! Helene was raised by first-time raiser, Korie, and puppy sat regularly by Haley. Career changed for an eye problem and adopted by her raiser.

Magoo aka Maguire
In fond memory: Magoo was lovingly raised as Judy's 11th pup for Guide Dogs. He was joyful, smart, successful, and sometimes a bit of a goof-ball. Magoo returned to campus for formal training in Oct. 2010 and his name was changed to Maguire. He died suddenly on January 24th, 2011, at the age of 18 mo., days away from starting in-home training with his new partner.
Under the guise of a road trip and tour of the San Rafael campus, Howard surprised Robin with new puppy, Estella. Estella joined our group on March 14, 2009. Returned to campus, March 2010. Career changed, April 2010 for body sensitivity & fear and adopted by the raising family. She is now a registered Therapy Dog.
Fantine arrived with fanfare and hoopla via Alaska Airlines on the 30th of January, 2009. She was raised by Renee as her second puppy for Guide Dogs for the Blind.Fantine was career changed in Phase 10 of Guide Dog 'college' because of an allergic reaction. She was placed as a pet by Guide Dogs.

Hastings was raised by experienced raisers Betsy and Peter as their 6th puppy for Guide Dogs for the Blind.Betsy and Peter moved to Bishop, CA in January 2009 and took Hastings with them. We miss all three of you! Hastings was career changed in April '09 and adopted by a family in Bishop.
Pokey little Curio with the ""unusual"" name--just as her family requested. She was raised by Lisa, Ross, & Rory as the first puppy they have raised for GDB. Career changed at 5 mo. of age for torn cruciate ligaments in both knees. GDB fixed them surgically and found her the perfect home after her recovery.
Shep was transfered to our group in Sept. 2008 at 8 months of age to be raised by Maayan. This sweet boy attended highschool with her at Lakeside. Returned for formal training Aug. '09. Career Changed in Phase 10 for inappropriate relieving in harness and adopted by his raising family.

Dayton was Judy's 9th pup. He loved being cuddled and loved children. Dayton was career changed for body sensitivity and is now living as a pet in Oregon.

A true Marilyn Monroe look-alike (and we are sure her middle name is Jean), Norma joined big sister and career changed dog Tinella to be raised by Cliff and Katie as their 4th Guide Dog Puppy.
